Creation Process of my Sculptures

The Role of Architecture in My Metal Sculptures

Architecture plays a crucial role in the creation of my metal art sculptures. As a sculptor and architect, each of my works begins with an in-depth study of the subject. In the case of animal sculptures, I examine dimensions, proportions, natural behavior, and symbolic meanings across different cultures, including myths and legends associated with the species.

I then define the ideal dimensions—either based on client requirements or on my own vision—and perform all structural and aesthetic calculations to ensure that the sculpture is balanced, harmonious, and proportionate to reality.

For the design phase, I use Draftsight, just as I did in my architectural work with AutoCAD. I meticulously draw every component of the sculpture. To verify the proportions and visual impact, I build a small aluminum model that helps me evaluate form, volume, and scale.

Once the design is finalized, I select materials and thicknesses with care. I work primarily with polished or satin-finished stainless steel and corten steel to create sculptures that reflect light, react to the changing environment, and enrich their surroundings with a sense of movement and energy.

I collaborate with expert metal workshops where my designs are laser-cut with high precision. I am personally involved in every stage of production—bending, welding, and final assembly—ensuring the sculpture embodies my vision down to the smallest detail.

My practice includes contemporary outdoor sculptures and environmental art projects, conceived to blend into public or natural spaces, often mirroring the way insects or animals camouflage themselves in the wild. These works become part of the landscape, adding poetic and visual depth to their setting.

 

In addition to public commissions, I also create bespoke sculptures tailored to the desires and needs of individual clients. Each piece is a unique project: I never produce multiples, as every sculpture is a singular, unrepeatable story—an expression of contemporary environmental art that speaks to space, presence, and identity.

Il ruolo dell’architettura nelle mie sculture in metallo

L’architettura ha un ruolo fondamentale nella creazione delle mie sculture artistiche in metallo. Come scultrice e architetta, ogni mia opera nasce da uno studio approfondito del soggetto. Nel caso di sculture di animali, analizzo dimensioni, proporzioni, comportamenti naturali e significati simbolici legati a diverse culture, considerando anche miti e leggende connessi.

Definisco poi le dimensioni ideali—secondo le richieste del committente o secondo la mia visione artistica—e realizzo tutti i calcoli necessari per garantire equilibrio e armonia nella composizione.

Per la fase progettuale utilizzo Draftsight, la stessa tecnica che impiegavo in architettura con AutoCAD. Disegno ogni componente della scultura e realizzo un piccolo modello in alluminio per valutare proporzioni, volumi e impatto estetico.

Una volta definito il progetto, scelgo con cura materiali e spessori. Lavoro principalmente con acciaio inox lucido o satinato e acciaio corten, per creare sculture che riflettono la luce e interagiscono dinamicamente con l’ambiente, aggiungendo una nuova dimensione visiva al paesaggio.

Collaboro con officine specializzate dove le lamiere vengono tagliate al laser con altissima precisione. Seguo personalmente tutte le fasi successive: piegatura, saldatura e montaggio, per garantire che ogni dettaglio corrisponda alla mia visione.

La mia ricerca include sculture contemporanee da esterno e interventi di arte ambientale, concepiti per integrarsi in spazi pubblici o naturali, mimetizzandosi quasi come animali o insetti nel loro habitat. Queste opere arricchiscono il paesaggio, generando un dialogo poetico e visivo con l’ambiente.

 

Oltre alle opere pubbliche, realizzo anche sculture su misura, pensate per rispondere alle esigenze e ai desideri specifici di ogni cliente. Ogni pezzo è un progetto unico: non realizzo mai copie, perché ogni scultura è una storia irripetibile e originale, espressione di arte contemporanea ambientale che parla di spazio, identità e presenza.

Die Architektur spielt eine zentrale Rolle in der Gestaltung meiner künstlerischen Metallskulpturen. Als Bildhauerin und Architektin beginnt jedes meiner Werke mit einer eingehenden Untersuchung des Themas. Bei Tierskulpturen analysiere ich Maße, Proportionen, Verhalten und die symbolische Bedeutung in verschiedenen Kulturen – einschließlich damit verbundener Mythen und Legenden.

Ich bestimme dann die idealen Dimensionen – entweder gemäß den Wünschen des Auftraggebers oder meiner künstlerischen Vision – und führe alle notwendigen Berechnungen durch, um Harmonie und Ausgewogenheit zu gewährleisten.

Für den Entwurf verwende ich Draftsight, wie früher in der Architektur mit AutoCAD. Ich zeichne jede einzelne Komponente der Skulptur und fertige ein kleines Modell aus Aluminium an, um Proportionen, Volumen und Wirkung zu überprüfen.

Nach der Projektdefinition wähle ich Materialien und Materialstärken mit großer Sorgfalt aus. Ich arbeite vorwiegend mit poliertem oder satiniertem Edelstahl und Cortenstahl, um Skulpturen zu schaffen, die das Licht reflektieren und mit ihrer Umgebung interagieren – eine neue visuelle Ebene für die Landschaft.

Ich arbeite mit Metallwerkstätten zusammen, wo die Platten per Lasertechnologie geschnitten werden. Ich begleite persönlich alle weiteren Schritte – Biegen, Schweißen und Montage – um sicherzustellen, dass jedes Detail meiner künstlerischen Vision entspricht.

Mein Schaffen umfasst zeitgenössische Außenskulpturen und Projekte der Umweltkunst, die speziell dafür entworfen sind, sich harmonisch in öffentliche oder natürliche Räume einzufügen – fast wie Tiere oder Insekten, die sich in der Natur tarnen. Diese Werke bereichern die Landschaft durch visuelle und poetische Resonanz.

 

Neben öffentlichen Aufträgen fertige ich auch maßgeschneiderte Skulpturen, die auf die Wünsche und Bedürfnisse jedes einzelnen Kunden zugeschnitten sind. Jedes Werk ist ein Unikat – ich fertige keine Serien –, denn jede Skulptur erzählt eine einzigartige, unwiederholbare Geschichte: ein Ausdruck von zeitgenössischer Umweltkunst, die von Raum, Identität und Präsenz spricht.

La arquitectura desempeña un papel fundamental en la creación de mis esculturas artísticas en metal. Como escultora y arquitecta, cada obra mía comienza con un estudio profundo del tema. En el caso de esculturas de animales, analizo dimensiones, proporciones, comportamientos naturales y los significados simbólicos en diversas culturas, incluyendo mitos y leyendas asociadas.

Luego defino las dimensiones ideales—ya sea según lo solicitado por el cliente o según mi propia visión—y realizo todos los cálculos necesarios para asegurar que la escultura sea armoniosa y esté bien proporcionada.

Para el diseño utilizo Draftsight, la misma herramienta que empleaba en arquitectura con AutoCAD. Dibujo cada componente y elaboro un pequeño modelo de aluminio para evaluar proporciones, volúmenes e impacto visual.

Una vez definido el proyecto, selecciono con cuidado materiales y grosores. Trabajo principalmente con acero inoxidable pulido o satinado y acero corten, para crear esculturas que reflejan la luz y reaccionan al entorno, aportando una nueva dimensión visual al paisaje.

Colaboro con talleres especializados donde mis diseños se cortan con láser con alta precisión. Me involucro personalmente en todas las fases: doblado, soldadura y montaje, asegurando que cada detalle refleje fielmente mi visión.

Mi trabajo incluye esculturas contemporáneas para exteriores y proyectos de arte ambiental, concebidos para integrarse en espacios públicos o entornos naturales, casi mimetizándose, como lo hacen los animales o insectos en la naturaleza. Estas obras enriquecen el paisaje con poesía visual y presencia simbólica.

 

Además de encargos públicos, creo también esculturas personalizadas, diseñadas para responder a los deseos y necesidades de cada cliente. Cada obra es única: no realizo copias, porque cada escultura es una historia singular e irrepetible, una expresión de arte contemporáneo ambiental que habla de espacio, identidad y presencia.
